Airstreams & Seminars & More at the 29th Annual Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show

For the first time in two decades, the iconic Airstream RV brand will be on display at the Michigan Association of Recreation Vehicles and Campgrounds (MARVAC) 29th Annual Fall Detroit RV & Camping Show, Oct. 3-7 at Suburban Collection Showplace in Novi, Mich.

“We are very excited to have multiple Airstreams included in the RV lineup this fall,” said Darren Ing, show director, MARVAC RV and camping shows. “The quintessential Airstream RV has always been a favorite of show visitors.” 

“National RV Detroit is going to do our best to showcase a wide variety of Airstreams at the Detroit RV & Camping Show, including trailers and coaches,” said Matt Kortman, director of media and purchasing for National RV Detroit. The Airstream lineup includes: 

2019 Airstream Flying Cloud—This nearly 26’ long silver bullet-shaped travel trailer can sleep six and features a queen-size master bed, bathroom with separate shower area, galley kitchen with stove, refrigerator and pantry and additional sleeping areas. The MSRP for this vehicle is $91,459. 

2019 Airstream Tommy Bahama Interstate—This motorhome sleeps two and features a minimalist kitchen, shower and bathroom, multiple seating options and incredible storage. This coach vehicle has an MSRP of $196,045. 

2019 Airstream Nest—Looking like something lunar, this nimble, fiberglass 16-foot trailer has a queen size bed, modest yet modern kitchen, full bathroom, power patio awning, and an MSRP of $47,234. 

Airstream not your style? The expanded exhibit space at Suburban Collection Showplace will have nearly 400 vehicles on display at the show, including popular travel trailers, folding campers, motorhomes and fifth wheel travel trailers. Prices range from $6,995 to more than $400,000. Exhibits featuring campground information, parts and accessories, on-site RV financing, RV rentals and informative seminars make this the complete RV show experience.

In addition MARVAC is offering multiple seminars on RV ownership, renting an RV and Michigan travels for attendees. There will be seminars on all types of subjects of interest to RV and camping enthusiasts on the “MARVAC Let’s Go! Stage” running throughout the show, including: 

• Hiking, biking and canoeing though the U.P.—Michigan’s Upper Peninsula a magical place and James Studinger from Call of the Yooper , knows it backwards and forward after traversing all around the U.P. He’ll share his knowledge and experience on Saturday, October 6 at 1 p.m. and Sunday, October 7 at 3 p.m.

• Renting an RV—There are many things to know before renting an RV to make wonderful memories with family and friends and Alvin Duncan, rentals manager for General RV Center will go over them all on Saturday, October 6 at 2 p.m. and Sunday, October 7 at 4 p.m. 

• Obtaining Satellite and Free TV in an RV—Dan Colaes from KING will talk about how to bring satellite and free digital television to your RV or campsite. Seminars daily. 

Returning to the “MARVAC Let’s Go! Stage” this year is Tom Daldin and Jim Edelman from the local PBS series Under The Radar Michigan. The duo will tell tales of their travels across Michigan, including their jaunts around the state in an RV. The pair is scheduled to speak on Sunday, October 7 at noon and 1:30 p.m.

The Suburban Collection Showplace is located on Grand River Avenue, south of I-96 between Novi Road and Beck Road. Adult admission (ages 13 and over) is $10, senior admission (ages 55 and over) is $9, and children 12 and under get in free! Parking cost not included in admission.
