If the show’s premise sounds familiar, that’s because Beachin’ RVs is the new iteration of Flippin’ RVs, which also featured the Scribners and Flyte Camp and their vintage trailer restorations. The main difference is Flippin’ RVs was broadcast on GAC, while Beachin’ RVs will air on the Travel Channel — with an ocean-side twist.
The Scribners “crisscross the country seeking out vintage RVs to transform into beach bungalows on wheels,” reads the program description. “They’ll search through trailer graveyards to find a hidden gem that has been put out to RV pasture, then haul it back to their shop in Bend, Ore., to give it a full overall ready to soak up the sun and fun! We’ll follow buyers as they pick up their new RVs and bring them to the beach and stake their claim on an affordable piece of waterfront paradise.”
The first of two episodes to air back-to-back, “Seaside Traveleze” shows the transformation of a “worn-out 1963 Traveleze into the perfect beach getaway on wheels for a family of four.” The team gives the trailer’s exterior a paint upgrade with pink accents, creates storage for the kids’ toys and builds a custom table that doubles as a bed and a removable dining table.
The second episode, “Beachy Bambi,” shows the renovation of a 1961 Airstream Bambi for the outdoorsy and sporty Kimball family, whose favorite beach on the northern Oregon coast offers perfect wind conditions for the watersports enthusiasts. The Scribners track down a partially restored Bambi and “transform the classic piece into a beach-themed, midcentury masterpiece” with modern amenities and plenty of room to store the Kimballs’ gear.
