2012 Ohio Tourism Publications Now Available

Free Travel Guide provides more editorial content, interactive experiences for travelers

The Ohio Department of Development's Ohio Office of Tourism recently released the 2012 Ohio Travel Guide and 2012 Spring/Summer Ohio Calendar of Events. Both print publications are available free of charge from DiscoverOhio.com or by calling 1-800-BUCKEYE. The Travel Guide and Calendar are also available in a digital, interactive format on DiscoverOhio.com.

"While we're beginning to see a slight upturn in leisure travel spending, visitors will still be looking for affordable, drivable getaways this summer," said State Tourism Director Amir Eylon. "We designed this year's Ohio Travel Guide to appeal to the value-conscious, time-starved traveler with quick nuggets of information in the form of brief itineraries, thematic lists and scannable QR codes for a multimedia experience with our publication."

Twenty-five QR codes are located throughout the 164-page Travel Guide and allow visitors to fly down the Hocking Hills zipline, get a behind-the-scenes look at Cedar Point's new Dinosaurs Alive! attraction, see what a visitor can expect at the World Choir Games in Cincinnati, view an 1813 reenactment at Fort Meigs and much more.

Additional 2012 Ohio Travel Guide highlights include:
  • Regional sections have been increased from four to five pages with more images and maps identifying locations featured in itineraries;
  • Pull-out state map featuring attraction locations;
  • Ohio's Historical Anniversaries section including the War of 1812 Bicentennial and ongoing Civil War Sesquicentennial commemorations;
  • Nearly 4,000 listings for destinations, attractions, lodging facilities, restaurants and more.

The 2012 Spring/Summer Ohio Calendar of Events includes:
  • Listings for nearly 700 festivals, shows, concerts and more from March through August 2012;
  • 68-pages of full-color images with events color-coded by region;
  • Calendar for each month listing holidays and advertiser-driven events.
