March is a crazy event month at Shanty Creek
Slush Cup Weekend, located at Schuss Mountain, has been one of northern Michigan’s most popular winter events for over 30 years bringing fun and silliness to a new level. The silliness peaks with the weekend’s premier main event, racing on skis and snowboards across an icy 40' pond while wearing wacky costumes.

A frozen fish toss, shovel racing, seal slide, and a silly slalom are just some of the wacky activities that are part of the traditional wild and crazy event known as Slush Cup Weekend, which takes place at Shanty Creek Resorts March 3-4. If you are looking for one last fun and exciting winter getaway before the snow melts, then you have to experience this unique event!

The popular Cardboard Classic returns on March 10. Utilizing only cardboard, glue and tape for their sleds, contestants will race down the ski slopes at Schuss Mountain.

The Schuss Mountain Snow Challenge is set for March 30 – April 1. This unique and exciting off road truck race, in its third year, features side-by-side racing up the snow covered face of Schuss Mountain’s Good Knight run. Vehicles of all shapes and sizes will participate and the cost for competitors is $20.00 per vehicle entry.

Other March events include the Irish Weekend on March 17, Canadian Spring Carnival on March 12-16, and the Sardine Special on March 24 for just $100.

Shanty Creek offers a wide range of activities that don’t involve chair lifts or goggles
Take a few runs down the tubing hill, sled around the property or try the new snowmobile tours by Blue Sky Rentals out of Traverse City. If you would prefer to enjoy the great outdoors at a slower pace, Shanty Creek has 31 kilometers of Nordic ski trails and 4,500 acres for snowshoeing.

Resort guests will also enjoy the heated outdoor pool at Schuss Mountain or pampering yourself with a treatment at the Spa. Other activities include a culinary class, dog sledding, or Family Movie Night.
