Kwanzaa Celebration - Ujima (Collective Work and Responsibility)
Tuesday 12/28 from 12 - 7 pm
The Charles H. Wright Museum of African American History hosts the third day of Kwanzaa - join us as we celebrate with friends and family and pay tribute to our rich cultural heritage. The day's schedule includes a Family Fun Fest w/crafts, storytelling and marketplace from 12 - 7 pm; screening of "The Black Candle," a Kwanzaa celebration film by M.K. Asante, Jr. featuring Chuck D., Dead Prez, Maya Angelou and more at 3:30 pm; and Kwanzaa Ceremony at 5 pm. These family-friendly events are FREE and open to the public. Sponsored by Comerica.

Art of the Masters Gallery Talk
Tuesday 12/28 @ 2 pm in the exhibit
Experience the exhibit, Art of the Masters: A Survey of African American Images, 1980 - 2000, with artist Darryl Smith. This gallery talk will focus on the patterns & symbols in the works of Benny Andrews, Samella Lewis, David Driskell, Bettye Saar, Calvin Jones and Evangeline Montgomery. Free with museum admission.

Music from the Apollo Theater (listening session)
Tuesday 12/28 @ 6:30 pm in the Classrooms
Don't miss our FINAL listening session, featuring Bobby Rodgers (The Miracles), Martha Reeves (Martha Reeves & The Vandellas), Motown Consultant Maxine Powell and former Temptations Music Director Al McKenzie listening to great music performed at the Apollo Theater.
