FMCA Heading to Arizona for Spring 2020 Convention & RV Expo

FMCA, an international organization for RV owners, has announced that the group will be making a return visit to the Pima County Fairgrounds in Tucson, Arizona, March 26 through 29, 2020. FMCA will welcome owners to this 640-acre event complex for its 101st International Convention and RV Expo. The last time the association held a convention at this facility was in March 1985, for its 31st convention. At that event, the organization set a new attendance record, topping more than 3,000 RVs for the first time.

“I’m not sure why this facility fell off the radar screen of event organizers at FMCA, but we’ve recently made site visits to check out its current status and feel sure it will make a great gathering place for our members,” FMCA national president Jon Walker said. “We’re excited to once again be hosting an event in southern Arizona. Tucson is a fantastic destination. In addition to enjoying the area’s great weather, attendees will be able to take in a variety of nearby attractions before or after the convention itself.”

During an FMCA convention, RV owners stay at the host facility in their homes on wheels, and a small city takes shape, seemingly overnight. The Pima County Fairgrounds offers plenty of parking space for RVs. RVers can opt for electric hookups during their stay or rely on their onboard resources instead.

RVs on-site will include models displayed by major manufacturers and dealers as part of the RV Expo that takes place at the event. Hundreds of the latest RVs will be open for inspection during show hours. The fairgrounds has acres of asphalt parking for outdoor exhibit space. FMCA also will make use of the Old Pueblo Conference and Event Center for displays of RV-related accessories, components, services, and other products of interest to travelers.

Another element of an FMCA convention is education. A hundred seminars are presented, with topics ranging from chassis and engine maintenance to microwave-convection cooking.

A variety of daytime and evening entertainment is offered, and members have numerous opportunities for socializing with others who share their love of the RV lifestyle. These range from organized activities such as morning coffee hour and an ice cream social to afternoon happy hours in the RV parking areas and various impromptu meetups.

Registration for the event in Tucson will begin on September 26, 2019. All RV owners are invited to attend.

Meanwhile, registrations currently are being accepted for FMCA’s upcoming conventions in Perry, Georgia, March 13 through 16, 2019, and Minot, North Dakota, August 14 through 17, 2019. To register for either or both of these events, or for more information, visit FMCA.com or call (800) 543-3622.

FMCA is the world’s largest not-for-profit association for recreation vehicle (RV) owners. The organization maintains its national headquarters in Cincinnati, Ohio, and currently has nearly 80,000 active member families. FMCA offers its members a number of benefits, including a subscription to its monthly magazine, Family RVing; a medical emergency and travel assistance program valued at $105 per family; a tire purchasing program; group rates on a roadside assistance program, RV and auto insurance, and health insurance; discounted rates for RV tours and caravans; and discounts on mobile internet access plans from Verizon and Sprint. Perhaps the most important benefit of FMCA membership is the camaraderie and friendships that develop among people enjoying the common interest of RV travel.
