Hundreds of RV families are pointing their modern-day stagecoaches toward Gillette, Wyoming, to take part in an event that FMCA — an international association for RV owners — has dubbed “Wanted In Wyoming” in honor of the host state. CAM-PLEX Multi-Event Facilities will be the venue for FMCA’s 98th International Convention & RV Expo, July 18 through 21, 2018.
FMCA first held an international convention at CAM-PLEX in June 2013, when attendees in 2,283 RVs gathered at the facility to enjoy a broad range of activities. The Cincinnati, Ohio-based RV owners group celebrated its 50th anniversary during that get-together.
Now, owners of nearly 2,000 RVs will take part in the July 2018 event, and it’s not just for FMCA members. All RV owners are invited to join the fun.
“We are excited to be heading to Gillette for our ‘Wanted In Wyoming’ convention,” remarked FMCA national president Jon Walker. “We had a great time in Gillette and at CAM-PLEX during our last get-together there, and no doubt we will again. CAM-PLEX is a wonderful facility for an RV-related event. And we’d like to invite any RV owner to come check things out — whether they bring their RV and stay on site with us or just come for a day or two. This also will be a great opportunity for anyone who’s been considering the purchase of an RV or is just curious about today’s RVs.”
One key element of an FMCA international convention is the RV Expo. Major RV manufacturers and dealers come together to present a fantastic shopping opportunity for those looking to purchase their first RV or their next. RVs in a variety of types, sizes, and price ranges will be on display. Plus, hundreds of companies will set up booths with RV components and accessories, home products, and RV-related services.
RV Expo hours are 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday, July 18, and 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Thursday through Saturday, July 19, 20, and 21.
When they aren’t shopping, attendees can take part in seminars about topics ranging from RV driving/towing and RV maintenance to microwave-convection cooking and technology for travelers. Approximately 100 different sessions will be held, so plenty of educational opportunities will present themselves.
Multiple options are available for attending FMCA conventions. RV owners are invited to bring their vehicle and stay on-site to enjoy all of the activities. Those who don’t yet own an RV are welcome to come for the day and just explore the RV Expo, or purchase a “passport” that allows them to take part in all activities (with no RV parking).
Registration for the event in Gillette is under way at FMCA.com and by phone at (513) 474-3622 or (800) 543-3622. Spaces are still available, so RV owners also are welcome to register at the gate.
Those looking to learn more about the RV lifestyle are invited to attend FMCA’s 2.5-day RV Basics course, which also will be held at CAM-PLEX and will start on July 15. Learn from RV experts in a classroom setting. But don’t worry; there won’t be any tests! Just plenty of useful information to either get people started as RV enthusiasts or to help existing owners to enhance their knowledge. For more information about RV Basics, visit FMCA.com/rvbasics or call the FMCA national office at (800) 543-3622.
