MRPA Offers Discount Travel Opportunities to Mackinac Island

The Michigan Recreation and Park Association (MRPA) is offering travelers a unique opportunity to visit Mackinac Island in grand style. The association’s “Grand Experience” trip is an all-inclusive, discount travel package for travelers ages 50 or better, complete with exciting events, accommodations at the luxurious Grand Hotel, breakfast and five-course dinner daily, carriage tour, cocktail reception, shopping discounts and more!

“Fall is a wonderful time on the Island, and for the past 46 years, we’ve offered travelers a unique opportunity to enjoy the best of Mackinac at a greatly reduced, all-inclusive rate,” said Ann Conklin, chief operating officer at MRPA. “The Grand Experience trip has become a tradition.”

Events and programs include bocce tournaments, behind-the-scenes kitchen tours of Grand Hotel, cooking lessons, yoga, and carriage tours. In addition, all Grand Experience travelers can enjoy unlimited golf at Grand Hotel’s Jewel Golf Course with a one-time cart rental fee.

Bus accommodations are available for travelers, or they can drive on their own. Events and meals are included in the trip cost, which varies between $435- $856 based on travel dates and occupancy.

“Traveling outside of the Grand Experience, this trip would cost more than $300 per night --not including ferry and taxi cost, taxes, luggage transfer fee, golf, and gas to drive to and from Mackinaw City,” Conklin said. “Our partnership with the Grand Hotel makes it possible to offer these excellent rates, and we hope to continue the program for years to come.”

Four different Grand Experience trips are scheduled for the fall of 2013. Trip dates follow:
  • Trip #1: September 24 - 27, 2013
  • Trip #2: September 30 - October 3, 2013
  • Trip #3: October 13 - 15, 2013
  • Trip #4: October 21 - 24, 2013
