Addison Oaks and Groveland Oaks campgrounds (Oakland County, Mich.) offer Halloween fun

OAKLAND COUNTY –Addison Oaks and Groveland Oaks campgrounds offer Halloween fun for all ages during September and October.

Groveland Oaks hosts Haunted Hallows Sept. 16 – 17 and Sept. 23 – 24 and Addison Oaks hosts Boo Bash Oct. 14 – 16 and Oct. 21 – 23.

Kids can participate in a costume contest at Addison Oaks. There will be a DJ Dance on Friday night, trick-or-treating at 5 p.m. on Saturday and a campsite decorating contest at both campgrounds.

“We’ve had people set up their own haunted houses, set up inflatable pumpkins and ghosts outside their campers and create great graveyard scenes,” Park Supervisor Boyd Brokenshaw said. “It’s fun for everybody – kids get candy, and parents enjoy decorating their campsites.”

When the sun goes down on Saturday, spooky activities begin with a Haunted Horror House at Addison Oaks and a Haunted Island at Groveland Oaks.

During the rest of the weekend, campers can enjoy games, pumpkin carving, gourd painting, doughnut on a string eating contest, inflatable bouncers and spooky fireside stories.

Patrons can come out for the day on Saturday or camp out for the weekend. Campground rates apply, and all additional activities are free.

Addison Oaks County Park is located at 1480 West Romeo Road in Leonard. Groveland Oaks County Park is located at 14555 Dixie Highway in Holly.
