Clear Lake State Park, in Montmorency County north of Atlanta, will undergo construction to upgrade the electrical system in the campground during the first half of 2014, which means that campground operations and opening schedules will be delayed.
The campground is anticipated to open the weekend before July 4, 2014. Weather and construction schedules may affect the reopening of the campground. Camp reservations will be available after the campground is open. The ORV parking area and the boat launch near the campground will open on schedule. Also, the day-use beach, picnic area, disc golf course and boat launch will open on schedule.
Camp visitors to Clear Lake may wish to consider alternative locations such as Onaway State Park, P.H. Hoeft State Park, Otsego Lake State Park or one of the numerous state forest campgrounds in the area. Campers who wish to camp during the winter season may seek opportunities to camp at North Higgins Lake State Park or reserve a lodge available at P.H. Hoeft State Park or Cheboygan State Park. This work - part of the extensive renovation process to upgrade the aging infrastructure of the Michigan state park and recreation system - is necessary to ensure that Clear Lake State Park's electrical system complies with safety standards.
