Pros and Cons of RV Slideouts

Courtesy of Marianne Riddile and her daily Motorhome Madness, I came across a nice article on RV slideouts from the Fun Times Guide.

Here's everything you need to know regarding my opinion of slideouts: Our camper does not have a slideout. Everyone RVer we know has a camper with a slideout. Our next camper will have a slideout.

The article discusses the pros and cons of slideouts as well as some maintenance and troubleshooting tips.

Here's some highlights from the article, which was written by veteran RVer Curtis Carper:

The Pros
"The feeling of openness and the ability to have more than one person standing in the RV’s living room at a time will dismiss that closed-in feeling instantly."

"A bedroom slideout is probably the most desired slideout of all because the bedrooms inside RVs are notorious for being cramped."

The Cons
"If you’re more mobile, driving down the road every day or so, then there are a number of reasons to give slideouts a second thought."

"As the rubber seals around the perimeter age and get stiff, they can allow rain water to seep in."

Take a quick moment and read his article. It's pretty informative.
